It’s my pleasure to welcome you to the San
Antonio campus of Wayland Baptist University.
More than 100 years ago Dr.and Mrs. James
Henry Wayland offered $10,000 and 25 acres to establish a school with
two requirements: that it be faith based and open to all.
As a result of that vision, the City of
Plainview, Texas accepted that challenge, and the school has upheld
those provisions where even today our mission is to
“. . . educate students in an academically challenging and distinctively
Christian environment for professional success, lifelong learning, and
service to God and humankind.”
The Wayland system is now the fourth largest
Baptist university in the country with total enrollments approaching
7,000.
The external programs, now at 14 different
locations worldwide, provide a non-traditional approach to the adult
learner in a flexible, affordable, and student-centered way.
My challenge to you is to simply envision
what you want to become at the end of your life; then begin to become
that today.
If you are interested in rewriting your
future, Wayland Baptist University might very well be the place to help
you get started. Best of luck to you in your academic pursuits.
