Master's Degrees

Congratulations!  You've completed your Bachelor's degree!  What now?  For many of our students, the next step is a Master's degree.  Wayland-San Antonio offers the Master of Business Administration, Master of Arts in Management, Master of Education, Master of Arts in Counseling, Master of Public Administration, Master of Christian Ministry, and Master of Arts in Religion degrees.  Here are some things you need to know as you enroll in one of Wayland's Master's degree programs.  For information specific to your degree program and file, contact an Academic Advisor at (210) 826-7595.

Admission Requirements

  • An Application for Admission to the graduate program of your choice.  Wayland does not impose application deadlines, however, students wishing to receive financial aid should submit all documents and applications well in advance of the term they wish to begin.  To receive application priority, potential Master's students should follow the following schedule:

Term  Application Cut-off Date
Fall (August - November) July 1
Winter (November - February)

October 1

Spring (February - May) January 3
Summer (May - August) April 1
  • $50 application fee.  Current and past Wayland students are excused from this fee.

  • Official transcripts from every institution attended, including a transcript indicating completion of a Bachelor's degree (past Wayland students should already have transcripts on file and just need to submit documentation of work completed since leaving Wayland).

  • Additional application and admissions paperwork as required for the specific degree you are seeking.

Moving from Bachelor's Graduate to Master's Student

Students who wish to begin work on their Master's degree immediately after completing their requirements for a Bachelor's degree have some special considerations.

  • Graduation is contingent upon the successful completion of all degree requirements and the meeting of specific deadlines.  Not graduating as planned may delay beginning a Master's program.

  • You will not be fully admitted into a graduate program until your undergraduate degree is posted to your transcript.  This occurs a few weeks before the graduation ceremony.  You may enroll in one term of graduate-level courses before being fully admitted.

  • As a new Master's student, you must register for classes in person on one of the New Student days.  Obtain a Permit to Register with a Student Status of "New" and a Degree Status of "Masters Degree."

Enrolling in 5000-level Courses

Wayland students may not enroll in 5000-level classes until they have applied to a Master's program and met with a graduate-level Academic Advisor.  In some cases, a student may be allowed to enroll in up to 6 hours of 5000-level classes during their last term as an undergraduate; however, it is best to wait until all undergraduate graduation requirements are met before enrolling in Master's-level courses.  Students must meet all leveling, prerequisite, and admissions requirements for the courses they wish to enroll (see your Academic Advisor or the current WBU Academic Catalog for these requirements).

Degree-seeking Conditional Enrollment

Degree-seeking candidates who have not yet met the admissions requirements for a graduate degree may enroll conditionally for one (1) term.  They must submit all applications and documents and be fully admitted to the program before they will be allowed to register for additional terms.

Post-Baccalaureate Non-Degree Status

Students who hold a Bachelor's degree and wish to take Master's-level courses for purpose of licensure, certification, or personal goals may apply as Post-Baccalaureate, Non-Degree (PBND) status.  They must meet all admissions requirements above and they must have at least a 2.7 GPA from the last 60 hours of coursework completed.  Students pursuing licensure or certification may have to meet additional requirements.  Only 12 hours of PBND work may be applied toward a graduate degree.  After that 12 hour maximum is reached, a student must apply and be accepted as a Degree-seeking candidate or cease taking Master's-level work.
