Diplomas

Diploma

A diploma is printed with the name you indicated on your Application for Graduation form and is included in your graduation fee (paid at the time you applied).  Diplomas are distributed to graduates during or immediately following the graduation ceremony.  Certain circumstances will result in you receiving your diploma at a later date, and you will be informed of this well before the ceremony.  If you are unable to attend the ceremony, diplomas will be available for pick-up or mail-out in the weeks following commencement.  Diplomas are not available prior to the stated date of graduation.

Only your degree will be printed on your diploma (i.e. Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education).  Your major field of study will appear on your official transcript (i.e. Major: Business Administration, Minor: Occupational Education, Minor Specialization: English Studies).

You may only receive a diploma for the degree under which you are admitted.  In other words, in order to receive an Associates of Applied Science degree and diploma, you must have indicated when you originally applied for admission that you wanted an Associates program or have completed a Change of Degree/Major/Specialization form to add an Associates program to your degree plan.  The latter must be done no less than 6 weeks before you apply for graduation, to allow for the admittance process to take place.  You can be concurrently enrolled in both a Bachelor's and an Associate's program.

Diplomas measure 8x10 inches and are accented with blue and gold.

Diploma Cover

You will receive one diploma cover as you cross the stage.  Covers for additional degrees awarded will be included in your diploma package.  A clear celluloid sheet will also be included, to protect your diploma when it is on display.

 Official Transcript

One official transcript is printed for each graduate right before the ceremony.

If you are Active Duty military or a reservist who has used military Tuition Assistance in the semesters leading to graduation, WBU is required to submit this final transcript to the base or post to which you are assigned.  If you have changed base/post or retired/separated from the military during your time with WBU, please be sure to let us know your status prior to the graduation date.

Transcripts for civilians will be included in their diploma package or mailed to their homes in the weeks following the graduation ceremony.

Additional transcripts can be ordered by the graduate at a cost of $5 a piece by using the Transcript Request Form available at the IH 35 campus or on this website.  Transcript requests submitted before the ceremony should be marked "Hold for Degree Posting."

The posting date of the degree will be the last day of the Fall semester for February graduates and the last day of the Spring semester for June graduates.  This is also the deadline to have all coursework completed.  This posting date will not change if you complete coursework earlier than those terms.  Degrees will be posted to the transcripts in the weeks leading up to the graduation ceremony.

Letter of Completion

A Letter of Completion is available on a need-only basis to provide proof of coursework completion and impending degree granting.  Potential graduates who have completed their coursework, are in good standing with the university, have applied for graduation and paid the fee, and have a $0 balance may request a Letter of Completion to submit for job procurement or advancement, admission into a Master's program (other than Wayland's), candidacy for military advancement, etc.  Letters are requested through a WBU counselor and are usually available within two (2) weeks.  If the graduation ceremony is within four (4) weeks of the request, a letter will not be issued.

Duplicate/Replacement Diploma

Duplicate copies of awarded diplomas cost $50 each.  Replacement Diploma forms are available at the IH 35 campus or by contacting the Graduation Secretary.  Duplicate diplomas requested along with the submission of an Application for Graduation will not be released until the commencement ceremony.  Otherwise, diploma orders are processed within 4-6 weeks.
