Hostage Situation:

 

A hostage situation occurs whenever one or more individuals hold another person against their will either by force or intimidation by the use of force.  They are always considered an immediate threat and should be considered as a very dangerous situation.

 

Action

 

If there is a hostage situation during the normal work day, the senior member of the Crisis Management Team available on site at the time will call 911 and attempt to evacuate the building and get everyone not under direct threat at the time to safety.

 

If there is a hostage situation after normal work hours, the senior member of the Crisis Management Team available on site at the time or the Security Guard will call 911 and attempt evacuate the building and get everyone not under direct threat at the time to safety.  In the absence of the Security Guard any instructor on site will take charge and call 911 and attempt to evacuate the building and get everyone not under direct threat at the time to safety. 

 

Once the authorities arrive inform them of the situation and then follow the directives of the authorities.
