General Registration Instructions

We have made every attempt to keep registration a quick and simple procedure.  If you follow a few simple steps, you should complete the entire registration process in just a few minutes.
NEW STUDENTS: If you are attending WBU for the first time, you will be required to complete a new student packet.  This packet consists of an application for admission, a request for an evaluation of credits, a credit agreement, and an enrollment contract.  It will take approximately 30 to 45 minutes to complete this packet.  Please allocate sufficient time to complete this packet and the registration process within the posted hours of operation.  You must also register for ORIE0001, the undergraduate new student orientation.  New students must also register for RSWR3345 during the first semester at Wayland.  If the student has not had ENGL1301, then the student should take ENGL1301 first, then enroll for RSWR3345 the following semester.  If a student enrolls for the RSWR3345 class and then drops the class, the student's record will be flagged with a requirement to take and successfully complete the RSWR3345 class the following semester.
RETURNING STUDENTS: If you have previously attended WBU in San Antonio within the last two semesters then you are already in the system.  You will need to complete one form that is available at each registration site. If you have previously attended WBU in San Antonio, but it was more than two semesters ago, then you are in the system.  However you will need to complete a readmit form.
If you are lacking a transcript or the new student orientation, you will not be permitted to register until that deficiency has been corrected.
ALL STUDENTS: You will need to know in advance what classes you want to take.  If the class or classes you plan to take have a prerequisite (annotated with the @ on the schedule), you will be required to sign your Permit to Register form certifying that you have satisfied all of the prerequisites.  If you need to speak to an Academic Advisor before making this certification then be sure to allow enough time to prior to your scheduled appointment  or make an appointment ahead of registration.   Please note that when you sign and certify that you have met the prerequisites for a course then you are subject to the rules of Student Conduct and Academic Honesty.  You must be prepared to pay at the time of registration.  If you are using any form of financial assistance, you must have already completed all required steps to secure those funds.
NEW STUDENTS
All new students must provide the following when registering.
1.        Name, address, and telephone number of two references (one relative and one non-relative).
2.        List of ALL colleges, dates attended, and number of hours earned, even if zero hours.
3.        Payment to include a minimum of one-third tuition, plus all tuition-related fees, or have financial assistance approved in advance.
4.        Pay a $35.00 one-time non-refundable admission fee.  You may pay this fee by cash, check, or credit card, however THIS FEE MAY NOT COME FROM FINANCIAL AID.
In addition to the above requirements, if you are a new graduate student you must write a detailed and carefully edited, one-page statement describing your purpose and objective in pursuing graduate study at Wayland Baptist University.  The statement should be submitted with the application and bachelor's degree documentation (transcript or diploma).  A GRE/GMAT/Accuplacer score (whichever is required by the degree being sought) or a confirmation number and date for taking the exam must be submitted to the university prior to initial enrollment.
ATTENDANCE
University policy requires instructors to issue a failing grade to any student absent for 25% (three class sessions or more) of the semester.
It is a student responsibility to attend class, be on time, and to attend the class section for which the student registered.  If a student attends a class other class section than the one registered for, the student will be considered absent.
Instructors may not enroll a student in a class, nor drop a student from class, nor permit an unregistered student to attend class.
