14.  Attendance Requirements:  Students will make every effort to attend all class meetings, be proactive within assigned teams, and read assignments given to enhance the learning experience.  If you must be absent for legitimate reasons; i.e., you are providentially hindered due to work requirements, illness or emergency—you must contact the instructor and advise/explain.  The instructor will determine a makeup plan for missed class work; otherwise, three absences (25% of the 11-week period) will constitute failure.  If you anticipate excessive absences, you should consider withdrawal according to WBU’s policy.  Three tardies/early departures may equal one absence.  Consistent tardiness and unexcused absences reduces grade average.

15.  Disability Statement:  “It is university policy that no otherwise qualified disabled person be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subject to discrimination under any educational program or activity in the university.”

16.  Course Requirements and Grading Criteria:

Examinations/Quizzes:  - Two exams:  Mid-Term (30 Jun ) / Final (4 Aug) = 50% of final grade (25%  each);

   Two quizzes = 10% of final grade (5% each)

1st Requirement:            - Oral Presentation (16 Jun), 5-7 minutes; subject determined by instructor = 5% of final

2nd Requirement:           - Team Project (14 Jul), 12-15 minutes; subject determined by instructor = 10% of final

3rd Requirement:            - Research Paper (APA Format; 7-10 pp) (28 Jul) = 15% of final

Attendance:                  - 5% of final grade (tardies/early departures/absences counted; see attendance requirements)

Participation and

     Teacher Subjectivity:            - 5% of final grade (also see Statements of Understanding)

GRADING:  100-90(A); 89-80(B); 79-70(C); 69-60(D); 59-below (F).  *I use a point system based on % X number grade.  For example:  Score 85 on exam @ 25% weight of total; 85 X .25 = 21.25 points, and so on.  ALSO, any overdue assignments receive point reduction until turned in.  After 1 week, the assignment receives a zero.
